Top of the line Indian handset manufacturer – Micromax today launched the Canvas Sliver 5, as the smartphone being the world’s thinnest phone without any camera protruding , with the thickness measuring only 5.1mm. The main noticeable hardware feature of this smartphone is it’s slimness and non-protruding camera which looks amazing. Of course, Oppo R5 and Vivo X5 Max are much slimmer but they do not offer non-protruding camera.
Coming to the specs, the Canvas Sliver 5 feature a 4.8-inch AMOLED display with 720p resolution protected with Gorilla Glass 3. The Company showed the stress and engineering challenges that they faced while slimming the screen compared to IPS display and opting for more thicker Gorilla Glass 3. Inside, the smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 410 chipset with a quad-core processor and 2GB of RAM. It has 16GB internal storage, sadly without any microSD card expansion.

The smartphone weighs only 97g as it’s no surprise for us considering how slim is this device. The whole smartphone is powered by a 2000mAh battery, which sounds less compared to other smartphones nowadays, but considering it’s design, it’s a good that the Company managed to pack higher capacity and good to see Micromax didn’t decided to opt out for lower capacity battery.
The smartphone has a single SIM slot with LTE enabled and comes with Android Lollipop out of the box. Priced at INR 17,999 (NRs.24,000), the Micromax Canvas Sliver 5 will be available for purchase starting next month, both online and via retailers. Micormax is popular among people in Nepal, so we won’t get surprised, if this handset does well in Nepal.
